Capen Cabin

The Capen Cabin is a rustic cabin, once used as a hunting lodge, lying in CLCT's Ratlum Mountain Preserve on Breezy Hill Road. It is a few hundred yards from the Ted Wright Trail trailhead and not far from the Arthur & Eunice Sweeton Trail.

The cabin has one room about 20' x 30' and another room that is approximately 10' x 10'. There is a small fireplace, wood stove, cold cellar, and an outhouse. There is potable water on the site. The cabin can accommodate 12 people sleeping on the floor. The Capen Cabin is available by advance reservation to youth groups and other interested members of the community. Call Nate Cantwell at 693-6224 to inquire.

Take Barbourtown Road north to Breezy Hill Road. Bear left onto Breezy Hill Road. Proceed to the top of the hill where the pavement ends and park there. The Ted Wright Trail begins here and heads due north. But do not follow it--yet. Take the unblazed path veering to the NNE and walk in about 200 yards to the cabin (you'll pass the pump house first).
