MoonlightHike2019 800x800

January 31, 2026, 5:30 to 8:30 pm. Breezy Hill Farm Trails

(snow/rain date February 28)

Update: The hike is still on for Jan 31. The trail is packed down and suitable for boots, snowshoes or micro-spikes - whatever you fancy.

It is going to be cold, so be sure to dress warmly, in layers. Wool, fleece, windproof gear, hand warmers. Mittens are best. Bring something to drink. Little Oak Cafe will serve chili, mac and cheese and cornbread. Cocoa, wine, beer, lemonade and water will also be available.

Have you noticed how different the land feels after dark? The trail you know by heart sounds different. Smells different. Feels ... older somehow.

The Land Trust invites you to experience our protected land in a way few do – by moonlight.

Take either a short or 1.5-mile luminaria lined trail, both moderate but with some slightly steep sections. A fire and hot meal of chili and macaroni and cheese will be waiting for you at the end.

Dress for the weather, including sturdy shoes (with cleats if icy). Bring water, but this time please leave dogs at home.

Begin at the trailhead on Breezy Hill Road after 5:30 pm (no earlier, please). Parking is limited, so carpool if possible. Watch the website for weather-related changes.

The event is free, but donations are accepted. Non-Canton Land Conservation Trust members are welcome and are encouraged to join.

Directions: Drive up Indian Hill Road to its end, then turn right to ascend a few hundred feet up Breezy Hill Road past the trailhead. Volunteers with flashlights will be there to direct parking. Drive carefully, as there will be hikers heading down the road to the trailhead.
