Swan Preserve - Bridge Repaired

The bridge at the Swan Preserve Trails is repaired and reopen, only three days after being severely damaged by a fallen tree.

A Hike and History Tour on Sweetheart Mountain

Learn about Sweetheart Mountain’s history, including its past use for skiing, and hike to scenic overlooks on this Canton Land Trust Tour at 9 a.m., Sat. Aug. 16. Alex Clarke will lead this approximately 1.5-hour, moderately difficult hike.

Wear study boots, clothes and bug repellent. Bring hydration and friends. Please leave dogs at home. In case of bad weather, check www.cantonlandtrust.org for updates.

Meet at the Freedom Drive entrance, at the end of Freedom Drive, before the start of the Sweetheart Mountain housing development.

The Canton Land Conservation Trust safeguards 2,000 acres, maintains hiking trails, and organizes activities so the public may enjoy this natural land and its wildlife. Land Trust Assumes Care of Town-Owned Carpenter Trail

The Land Trust has volunteered to take over stewardship of a hiking trail on the town-owned open space property known as Carpenter. The 2-mile out-and-back trail is good for an easy walk or even run.

Updated Avenza Maps Available

The Land Trust recently updated its collection of the geo-referenced maps that it creates. These allow users to see their location when viewing the map on a smart phone.

The update includes several small changes to some maps, the Roaring Brook Nature Center Trail map and the addition of the new Carpenter Trail map.
